On a rare night of downtime, I met with NYC friend Madonna who has returned home to Ghana, and we indulged in a traditional feast and brews. Spur of the moment we decided to stop into Accra’s best (and only) jazz club, +233. Best decision ever. Incredible music, mutual friends found on another continent, world leaders.
The Billie Holiday-esque songstress happened to go to junior high with Madonna. Behind us sat a slew of US Senators, visiting to check on the progress of a new cross-country highway funded by the US.
We ended the night back at the Phoenix with Ghana’s biggest reggae stars celebrating the Ethiopian Christmas aka RAST-MAS.
One of those nights that I think, hey, I have a life here…
